My husband and I have been readers of the Staats-Anzeiger since Christmas. We are very happy with the paper. It has become dear enough to us to continue with it. My husband or I will not write much, since such labor is hard for either one of us, but once in awhile one has to give a sign of life.

It is a fact that all the other correspondents virtually ask for a response. We found a letter in #29 that needs a response. It’s the letter of M.Gross of Emmental, where he personally attacked Mr. Romuald Dirk. All who know Mr. Dirk will agree that he is not a wealthy fellow, but honest as the day is long. Attempts to slander him will fail. All the reports of Mr. Dirk are well liked and read here. Mr. Dirk lamented about situations in general without pointing fingers.

The Staats-Anzeiger should not be abused in the manner of a Mr. Gross. The paper is above such personal attack tactics. I had to put in my five cents since the Staats-Anzeiger is read everywhere, and also by folk who do not personally know Mr. Dirk.

In closing, greetings to all our friends, the parents and siblings in South Russia and to all the readers of the paper.
