Thank you to the editor for sending an issue of the paper to my brother Jakob Dirk in Westfield, Emmons County in North Dakota. If his heart is not completely cold, then I hope that the paper will bring him back to life. (Jakob Dirk’s wife’s name is Marianna.)
Romuald Dirk
The rest of the letter is not important enough to translate.

I will send a few lines again, since I have the opportunity to write. Around here the wedding fever has begun at a high degree. On the register are Eduard Ternes with Seforosa Erker; Lorenz Löb with Emerensiana Ternes; Emanual Tischmak with Grethe Harsche; Pius Drexler with Zelestine Braun; and Isidor Hinz with Nathalia Kopp.
The weather has been very dry for a long time. The yield of the harvest was meager at 5 to 10 bushels to the acre.
