Worthy Editorship!
Since we were overwhelmed with work in the store, we weren’t able to write for a long time. Also, the newspaper doesn’t arrive regularly, which of course is not your fault. It is quite sad for us, since important news might have been lost for us due to the missing issues.
We are finished with the Welsh corn. We had splendid corn this year. For the new seed we definitely need rain.
I am asking my brother Max to let himself be heard from so that we know if all people in the family are still alive and healthy. There are ……. (Illegible Text)
We are asking Peter and Irene Januscheitis in Brisbane, North Dakota to let us heard from them. I have sent several letters already, but they seem not to have reached you. We have only received one letter from you. Thank you very much. The correct address you are asking for is: Tarutino, Com. Krasna, Rumania, Bessarabia.
Johannes Falk lives in Sarata, Com. Sarata, Rumania, Bessarabia. Furthermore, we are asking for the address of Zachaeus, Lorenz and Balthasar, and Korbinian Kahl.
Our old mother is still alive and healthy. She is still working diligently at the spinning wheel. I am asking my brother Max to please pay for the Staats-Anzeiger for me when it expires. (*Editor: It expires on 8 December. M. Both in Elardee, Sask. has already been notified). Maybe Peter Januscheitis would pay for the paper for me sometime for a short while. He would make me very happy.
Through me, Karl Marsche is reporting to Mr. Joseph Hittel that he received the letter with the picture. They would like to know who the other people in the picture are, and are asking therefore to let themselves be heard from.
So far all of us are still healthy and we hope the same of you.

Worthy Staats-Anzeiger!
Yesterday I received a letter from my mother from Emmental, Bessarabia. It is sad that she has to be out there in the old country without housing right now when the “White Man” (winter) is knocking at the door. She has been evicted unjustly before her time was up! It seems that Mr. R. Lipp has no compassion.
I would like to take care of her, but letting her come to America is not that easy for a woman of 62 years. If possible, I would like to buy her a small house in Emmental or Krasna. I would have liked to have bought the house of Max Fenrich, but I didn’t know anything about the circumstances there. For 6 years I had no message from over there. Thus I would like to ask Mr. Zachaeus Kopp to please look around for a small house and to inform me about it. Most likely he still knows me. I worked as a farm-servant for his father-in-law. I wonder how he, Michael Gross is doing. I send him a greeting!
Herewith I also greet my Uncles Wendelin and Anton Seifert if they are still alive. I know very well that many people in Krasna are reading the Staats-Anzeiger. Unfortunately these people report very little, except Mr. Gedak. I am greeting him and also my brother-in- law Martin.
In closing I am wishing the reader circle a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Even though here it is a little too early for the wishes, they are almost too late for the people overseas.
