Worthy Staats-Anzeiger!
The weather is still dry and warm. That is very good for torn shoes, fodder and fuel, but not for the farmer and his land.
A milk cow belonging to my neighbor Albertus Ruehl got sick. It was finally discovered that she was mad and had to be shot.
During the night of 26 November, two horses were stolen from Aloysius Bachmeier’s stable. The theft was noticed immediately and the thieves were followed to a pasture in Kloesitz, where the next morning the thieves were forced to turn the horses lose to get away from the pursuit. It is really sad that we don’t have any rifles to shoot down the mad dogs and the thieves.
Stefanus Ternes, son of Zachaeus died on 15 November at the age of 25 years. He was still single.
The following people were married in November. Simferian Winter, son of Joseph to Thekla Hein, daughter of Philipp; Joseph Dirk, son of Peter to Ekaterina Ruehl, daughter of Joseph; Emanuel Wingenbach, son of Albertus to Monika Bonjakowsky, daughter of Anton; Peter Wagner, son of Simon to Anna Bachmeier daughter of Johannes; Stefanus Soehn, son of Hiron to Ottilia Kopp, daughter of Blasius; Emanuel Dirk, son of Peter to Faustina Becker, daughter of Friedrich; Joseph Both, son of Valentin to Ekaterina Wolf, daughter of Joseph; Nikolaus Speicher, son of Michael to Ekaterina Rueckert, daughter of Ludwig.
I was also invited as a guest to Blasius Kopp’s, Joseph Winter’s and Michael Speicher’s. The wedding celebrations were a lot of fun. Nowhere was there a lack of food, drinks, liquor and wine. We sang and danced along with the music according to our old customs.
In the evening of the second day of the wedding celebration at Mr. Ludwig Rueckert’s, the wedding guests split into two groups. Our group went to Valentin Ritz’s house. From there we went to Joseph Speicher’s and then to Dionysius Bachmeier’s. Everywhere was music; people sang, ate and drank. There was nothing to be had at Ludwig Braun’s. He had two barrels of wine in the cellar but he pretended to be drunk.
Then we went to Peter Speicher’s place. He put a sack with 4 pud of sunflowers on the table and then treated us to a bucket of good “Schiller” wine. We thought that he didn’t have any wine and asked him where he got it. He answered, “That is ‘Kathrine’ wine.” It happened to be 25 November, and his wife’s name is Ekaterina. That’s how it continued until the last wedding guest left. Then the words were good night and take care.
Oswald Wagner sends a greeting to his brothers-in-law Georg Harsche in Shields, North Dakota and to Fabianus Hartmann in Strasburg, North Dakota. He is asking them to send the Staats-Anzeiger as a present.

Esteemed Staats-Anzeiger!
Should friends and relatives from the Elardee area be interested in greater detail of the above story, then they should contact Romuald Dirk upon his happy return home from his trip.
The holidays have passed with happy occasions. Wine and liquor we had in abundance. The weather too was nice, so that one could walk up and down the street day and night. Although it is already January we still have warm and foggy weather.
On the wedding register are Alexander Blotzky and Nympha Engel, daughter of Philipp.
The Americans arrived here in Krasna on 25 December at noon. They intend to depart from here on 25 January.
Unfortunately I lost several editions of the paper. Overall they do arrive here
regularly. But just now when one has ample time for reading, they regrettably are amiss.
The Americans presented our people with a great deal of joy about America. Many are thinking to travel to America come summer. One does not know if everything they talk about is true, because they did elaborate in many categories.

Worthy Editorship!
Since the wind is blowing outside, I want to direct a few lines to the newspaper.
We are ardently waiting for news from our travelers who have left for a visit to Bessarabia. Perhaps they are already on their return trip.
So far the health conditions are good again.
I wish Mr. Schaffert will have the luck to be called not only father but grandfather as well. I also extend my heartfelt wishes to the newlyweds.

Esteemed Staats-Anzeiger!
We have a rainmaker among us. Last week he conducted a meeting. Each farmer had to pay $1.00. He maintained that he could make it rain anywhere from 4 to 9 inches in a circumference of 100 miles. Therefore, we should not have a shortfall in the future.
The health conditions are not good. Last week Lambert Herly, son of Wendelin and also Peter Materi died in Swift Current. Materi died after an appendectomy. It has now been 3 weeks since my return trip from a visit to Strasburg, North Dakota. I also stopped and visited the “Boss” and looked at the well-established printing press. I was well received by my friends in Strasburg, but it was very wet there during my stay. At the same time it is said that North Dakota supposedly is bone dry. I also visited friends in Estevan, Saskatchewan and there it was even wetter.
Last Saturday, Vinzens Miller and his wife also returned from Strasburg, North Dakota.
The following couples were married: Xaverius Hintz and Merzelina Eresmann; Klemens Eresmann and Magdalena Bischoff; Dionysius Ternes and Ottilie Bonogofsky; Joseph Arnold and Josefina Kopp.
