Worthy Editorship!
The weather is very cold now, but one can still bear it.
When thefts are being reported from everywhere in the newspaper, then I can only say that it is the same here. They have stolen 160 bushels of flax from my brother Johannes and me. We had stored it at our newly bought farm. We have not yet found the thief. There are people that are all smiles up front and steal you blind behind your back. I have a hunch about where my flax is. Perhaps I will be able to write more about this matter in my next report.
(*Editor: The money that was sent was correct. That was acknowledged as received in the mailbox in the edition of 8 February, as you can see for yourself.)
The health conditions are not good, especially among the children.
I really would like to hear from my friends and relatives in Emmental and Krasna. Simon Riehl and Nikolaus Engel arrived on the 21st.

Worthy Staats-Anzeiger!
I express my heartfelt thanks for the nice family calendar that I have received.
I am asking Mr. Anton Gedak to ask my siblings to write to me sometimes. Then I will also have the Staats-Anzeiger sent to them.
The health conditions among the children here leaves much to be desired.
Overall it is warm and windy here without much snow. We are already starting to work in the fields, which cannot be accomplished very well, because it is too dry and the soil is still a little frozen.
