Worthy Staats-Anzeiger!
The feast of Christmas was celebrated nicely and appropriately and ended peacefully. We also celebrated the New Year asking for God’s mercy. We started the day of the New Year with a happy heart. What the year will bring us only the Almighty knows, and we want to leave it up to Him.
Our happiness is overshadowed by the thought of the starving people in Russia. May the heavenly Father also give them a better life again.
During the annual community meeting, the following people were elected as trustees and church elders. They are Leon Volk, Daniel Hittel, Michael Dirk, Peter Schmitt and Julius Flegenstein. We hope that the newly elected officials will work hard for our community. Our priest’s name is Father Kretschel.
The health conditions in our district leave a lot to be desired especially with the children, but in my family so far everyone has stayed healthy.
The weather is still bearable. We had a little bit of snow but it was not enough to ride a sleigh.
I send a friendly greeting to all friends and acquaintances as well as to my mother-in-law in Emmental.
Respectfully,
Joseph Hittel
