Worthy Mr. Brandt!
I was about to close my letter when my friend Anselmus Riehl arrived asking me a favor. He asked me to find out through the Staats-Anzeiger if his mother was still alive. She is married to a certain Sebastian Wolf.
About 20 years ago, she resettled from here to Siberia. Shortly thereafter his father Michael Riehl died there. His mother then married the above mentioned Mr. Wolf. The four siblings Anselmus, Rochus, Katharina and Barnabas then moved back to Bessarabia.
When the world war started, Anselmus and Rochus were drafted into the military service. At the end of the war, Rochus settled in Siberia, while Anselmus arrived here and married. He has three children. Katharina also was married here. Barnabas disappeared without a trace during the war.
Should the Staats-Anzeiger be read in the region where the mother may be residing, then one should be so kind and pass the paper on to the mother. She then could inform her son Anselmus if his brother Rochus is with her again.
Her children would love to write to her should she forward her address to them. Previously, the mother resided in Alexejewka, Post Office Lenejewka, Akmolinski Oblast, Siberia. Whoever is going to do this favor for these children can be assured their gratitude.
I have one more favor to ask my old friend Veronika Deibert in Selz, South Russia. She please should not totally forget me and send me a small package of snuff again. Then I would love to present her with a Russian kopek. I quit smoking and now would love to take a pinch of snuff once in awhile, but even for a lot of money I can’t find any. My brother-in-law Joseph Reis would like to have some too.
In closing, I greet all my friends and ask them to write once again. Therefore wake up dear friends and write!
