Worthy Staats-Anzeiger!
As far as I know, there are no elderly people that have died there, only our old Aunt Rosa Martha is severely ill. She is already 77 years old and probably will soon die. This serves to inform her youngest son Michael Engel whose place of residence I do not know and also her brother Johannes Kopp in Richardton, North Dakota.
This year again we have had a really dry autumn. It rained once but only scattered showers, which didn’t even cover all of our fields. Because of the drought the seeded winter wheat doesn’t grow sufficiently. Once again we cast a gloomy look into the future.
I also have to report of a planned wedding. The announcement was made for the first time on Sunday that Johannes Gross, son of Joseph Gross would marry Apolonia Kopp, daughter of Joseph Kopp.
Recently, Joseph Gross the father of the groom was driving home from Gangura. In the little village Alexandrowka, he lost the nut off of an axle. As a result, he lost a wheel while driving too fast as he always does. The wheel rolled under the horses. They spooked and jumped to the side. He fell from the wagon and jammed his neck. He suffered other injuries as well. He is still bed-ridden and can hardly move a joint. May he soon recover so that he can happily celebrate his youngest son’s wedding. Mr. Gross in general is a merry wedding guest. His children Joseph and Klara Mueller are also kindly invited to come to the wedding.
I respectfully greet all readers.
Zachaeus Kopp
