Dear Dakota Rundschau:
As I am also a reader of this publication, I would like to contribute something from our region, as the Rundschau brings joy to many households.
There is not much news to report, only that 1929 got off to a bad start. We had two cases of suicides here. The son of the late Anton Ernd got into a fight with his mother, and spent the night at his sister’s house. He obtained a rope the next morning and hung himself from a tree. One can imagine the horror of the family. A similar case happened in Godschulay where a young girl attempted suicide in this manner, but her mother saved her in time.
Old Jakob Ziegel died at the age of 72, out on the street. He collapsed suddenly and died. He spent the night in the barn of Basilius Politzky since the poor man had no home. He rose in the morning and went out on the street and died. He was brought to the community hall. Now the community will have to bury him. Aside from a daughter who works in Konstanza, the old man has no relatives. The daughter attended the funeral. Peace to his ashes.
We had community elections on January 7. President is Zachäus A. Müller; board members are Bernhard J. Wolff and Heinrich M. Fenrich. Church board members are Melchior J. Bachmeier, Blasius J. Politzky and Ferius A. Müller.
Ferius A. Müller came to me requesting that I write to this publication asking for help in finding his friends in America. They are Johannes Bonocofsky [Boniakowsky] and wife Christina. Ferius A. Müller is the son of August and Marianna Müller nee Ihli, who lived in Bessarabia. Ferius A. Müller is also asking the readers for assistance in finding his friends.
Greetings to all readers, the editor and staff.
Blasius J. Politzky
