Dear Editor:
We had a dust storm February 16-18. The dust blew in from the north and indicates that there was a volcanic eruption somewhere, as the dust was mixed with fine ashes.
The house of Valentin Ternes burned down in the night of February 24. It was a building over 10 Faden long. It was difficult to save some of his belongings.
As mentioned before, the community received money, which was distributed according to wealth. Families with land received up to a 1,000 Lei to be repaid within five years at 11% interest. The entire sum received by the village was 1,223,000 Lei.
We had another strong storm on February 28, bad enough to refuse to let the dog out. The snow in Northern Bessarabia is rumored to be six feet high, which causes great concern here. If it melts and we get more rain, we are facing flooding again. It is still incredibly cold and the recruits have not had to leave yet. The cold and snow has also stopped the rails in part.
The corn we received was distributed today. Each person received 11 kilograms, which will cost us 1 Lei 50 Bani now and more later. How much it will be is not made public yet.
Greetings to the readers, editor and staff.
