Dear Editor Brendel:

The big snowfall here, which I already mentioned, brought the railroad to a standstill, and the men have to volunteer to clear the tracks. Twenty-five men left this morning, tomorrow fifty more are slated to go to shovel snow and clear the roads. Two horsemen in the lead to trample down the snow, and a team of shovelers followed to dig out the houses, which were snowed in to the roof. Kasper Wingenbach dug out his neighbors first. Mrs. Klemens Spitznagel, whose husband works on the railroad, was snowed in for 2½ days before a path was cleared. The neighbor walked across the roof to the chimney to clear a path from her door. She and the children are fine. Last night it was 17° below, now the sun is shining but it is still cold.

Konrad Folk died today at the age of 56. He leaves behind a wife and six children; three of them are married. Two daughters are in Brazil. May God grant him eternal peace!

Thomas Schaefer sends greetings to his godfather Thomas Ihli in Hettinger, North Dakota. He and his family are well. He would like an exact mailing address, if at all possible. He would very much appreciate a subscription to the Rundschau for one year. He sends his heartfelt thank you in advance.

Greetings to all readers here and there.
