Dear Staats Anzeiger!

Today I received a letter from Sao Paulo in which I read about the death of my brother-in-law Joseph Nagel. He came to Brazil in April 1930 and settled in the State of Sao Paulo. He contracted a belly ailment and died after being sick for only nine days. Four days after his death his wife Zälestina nee Löb, gave birth to a daughter. The young couple wanted to find their fortune in Brazil, and now fate hit them so hard. Mankind thinks and God guides. (Mankind propagates and God navigates!) Let this serve as a notification for the relatives in the old homeland.

The rice and Welsh corn harvest is ready to begin and promises good results. At the moment people are busy harvesting tabacco, and the weather is ideal for it. The health status is satisfactory. There are no special news items to be reported from the jungle.

Recently a young man, Joseph Hager, from Germany was engaged to Regina Weber, daughter of Kasper Weber. The undersigned will be the man of honor at the wedding. The wedding celebration will be conducted in line with Brazilian and German customs. With that, I have to be careful, so I don’t lose my assignment.

I would like to ask the honorable correspondents in Emmental, Bessarabia to convey my greetings to my parents and siblings. We would be happy to receive a sign of life from them. We still are all well. We thank Anna Moldenhauer and Klara Miller in Canada very much for their greetings and return our friendly hellos to them.

Dear friends, write eagerly!

With a greeting,
Anselmo Wagner
