Dear Editor Brendel:
The rainfall of June 22 and 25 really helped; the grain is looking good. The storms did some damage perhaps, but in terms of rainfall it was highly useful. Now we can expect results even from the grain sowed late.
Death List: (Message to Leogatia Hitl and Rochus Paul in Leader, Sask. Canada) Marianna Ritz nee Kuhn from Saneck near Warsaw in Poland, she was without children and died June 23. She was 54 years old. – Eva Weber, wife of Martin, died June 26. She left behind her husband, 4 married and two unmarried children. Her maiden name was Paul; she came from Emmental. She was 60 years of age. May the Lord give them peace.
On June 25, Rudolf Mueller left from here to travel to Parapon where his children work to earn some money. On his trip back, he stopped at a well during the night to water his horses. He was attacked by seven unknown assailants and robbed of 2,900 Lei and his hat. Now his kids have worked for nothing and he and his family have to suffer.
The harvest machinery is ready. The harvest will begin this week as long as the weather stays clement.
Another horrible incident happened. Johannes Paul went home from his field around sunset. His neighbor Christostemus stood at the gate and waited for him, and then beat him with a staff. Johannes fell into his wagon, unconscious, bleeding and black and blue. There is nothing worse than strife among the neighbors, which only benefits the lawyers.
Greetings to the editor, and all readers here and there.
