The threshing season is underway and some folks have almost finished. We had an average harvest. Winter wheat yielded between 20-25 pud, summer wheat 40-45 pud and barley 60-65 pud per desjatine. We do not plant rye here.

We had a horrible heat wave. It lasted for four weeks. The feed corn and the bashtán (melon) suffered greatly from it. If our dear Heavenly Father does not send us rain, we have little hope for even an average corn yield.

There is little hope for a good wine harvest as well. We had vine lice that have wreaked havoc for the past seasons. The small amount left from that pest is bound to suffer from this heat.

Local resident Joseph Wagner had almost 2,000 rubles stolen by a Jew who escaped by crossing the border.
