Again a correspondence in the Staats-Anzeiger surprised me delightfully; namely the one from Kosakova by Anton Deschner in Issue #29 of the paper. I have not heard anything from there for a long time, but have not forgotten the old homeland. Here in the New World it is different than over there. Here one does not know anything of a mayor and also not of a money collector – here everybody is that himself!

A hello to Georg Stroh and Joseph Kiefel in Neukandel. I would like to know if they are also readers of the paper. (*Editor: No.) I would also like to hear something from Neukandel. If they do not read the paper, then they should order it at once, because the Staats-Anzeiger is the best newspaper for them. In it they will find many news items from friends in America and Canada.

A greeting also to Valentin Denies [Dinies] in Canada, and especially to my brother-in-law Franz Joseph Lübbs. If he does not have the newspaper as yet, then he should order it. To a foreign country it costs only $2.00 per year and in addition one receives a nice price. I know everyone who gets acquainted with the newspaper will like it.

Today we have nice weather. Hopefully, it will stay like this, as it is good for people who have little hay.
