Worthy Mr. Editor!

Yesterday I received the Staats-Anzeiger for the second time. I am thanking Mr. Anton Goldade for the present and would like to have his correct address so that I can write to him personally.

Recently, there were robbers in the village. They bound the policemen and stole 50,000 lei from one person, they stole 5,000 lei from another, and from yet another they also stole money. They then fled with it. The police were looking for their tracks but found nothing.

The farmers have now sown the wheat, but the soil is not very wet. There still hasn’t been any rainfall, which we urgently could use.

A horse now costs 10,000 lei here and a cow costs 2,500 lei. The price for a wagon is 4,500 lei. A pud of wheat costs 40 lei and barley costs 25 lei. The people without land received some land - 8 werst (1 werst = .66 mile) away from Krasna.

A while ago four men were driving home from Tarutino when their sleigh tipped over on the road. They lost a horse but they found it the next morning in the ditch.

On 9 March, we saw the bright glow of a fire, but I never did find out where the fire had burned.

Military forces are now stationed in Krasna.

I am asking for the addresses of Peter Weissbeck, Franz Frank from Selz, Nikolaus Vogel and Michael Nolt from Selz.

All of us are still healthy and we are greeting my brother-in-law and all readers.

Respectfully,
Daniel Lauterbach
