Valued Staats-Anzeiger!

Since it is raining again today, I have time to report a little to the newspaper. The health conditions are not good among us.

Mrs. Nikolaus Schmidt, who had been in the hospital for 31 weeks, has died. My brother-in-law Friedrich Nachbar was operated on because of stomach cancer. The doctors, however, say that he has only 2 to 3 months left to live. The former mailman had an appendectomy.

(*Editor: You are correct. The paper was paid for up to 27 October.)

In closing, I greet my grandmother and also my Uncle Victor Nagel, who because of me, has also become a reader of the newspaper, as well as all other friends in North Dakota and Canada.

Respectfully,
Michael M. Erker
