Dear Staats-Anzeiger!

Please publish my request in your newspaper. I have already sent many letters to my godfather Johannes Soehn, but have not received an answer. I am also looking for Johannes Baumann. His wife’s name is Maria and she is the daughter of Wendelin Steuer. Adam Bauer, the son of his brother, asks him to please have the newspaper sent to him and extends a sincere thank you in advance.

The weather is not good. Too many storms are dominating. On 19 April, the storm was so fierce that it lifted everything off that was not solidly and securely constructed.

I have gained a new neighbor by the name of Christian Schmitt. His wife Barbara, nee Huber, daughter of Johann Huber is from Glueckstal.

Perhaps Christian Fischer, the son of Christian from Bergdorf, is a reader of the paper. I have not heard anything from him in seven years. He is hereby called upon to give a sign of life. Also, I would be happy if I could receive the Staats-Anzeiger through him. Since I do not have his address I cannot write him personally. Likewise, I give a nudge into the ribs of my godfathers Rudolf Herburra, Remigius Paul, Wilhelm Gross and Adam Mueller to let themselves be heard from. When they departed for America they had promised to write. But promising and keeping a promise are two different things.

I am not doing well. Now I even have to buy tobacco. Up until now we had planted our own tobacco. But that is no longer the case. One stem costs 1,000 lei nowadays. Only the noblemen, i.e., the ones with lots of money have the means to smoke during the present times. We beggars cannot afford this pleasure any more.

Other than this I have nothing else to report.

With an all around greeting, I am respectfully,

Raphael Loeb

Worthy Staats-Anzeiger!

I am not a reader of the paper. However, I found out from many readers that by the means of the Staats-Anzeiger one can establish communication with many friends in America with whom one has lost contact. That encourages me to call upon my friends. Foremost that would be my godmother Regina, nee Mueller, daughter of Blasius Mueller. I do not know who she married. Should she be reading these lines then she is asked to please let herself be heard from. Or if she has not subscribed to the paper then perhaps acquaintances could inform her.

Maybe I can also find out where my Uncle Blasius Mueller resides in the new world. I also ask Franz Mueller, my father’s brother, for his address. I am still single and live with my brother Nikolaus Mueller. Our precise address is: Roumania, Bessarabia, Tighina, Kainari, Balmas.

Moreover, the brother of my grandfather Peter Mueller is also over there, as well as my cousins Ludwig Mueller, son of Franz; Vinzens Mueller and Wilhelmina Mueller, and my school buddies Elieser and Gabriel Soehn.

I greet all of them and ask them to please respond. I would also be very happy if one or the other would provide me with the paper.

Respectfully,
Michael Mueller, son of Georg
