Honored Editor Mr. Brandt!

On 22 December 1926, I received a short letter from your assistant C. J. Haag, for which I thank him very much.

Mr. Haag, your old mother and your siblings are all healthy and they send their greetings. My family and I are also sending greetings, as well as Albertus Riehl and his family.

My wife Anna Maria and I, Johannes and Mrs. Harsche, Karl and Mrs. Soehn, Johannes and Mrs. Ruscheinsky, Peter Soehn and Adam Wagner with their accordions visited at our neighbor’s Albertus and Mrs. Theophilia Riehl on New Year’s Eve. We had a fun time.

Since my prior report, my neighbor Blasius Kopp died at the age of 52 years. He left his deeply saddened wife Sophia, a 12-year old daughter and an unmarried son. The son is 21 years old and has to report for military service on the 1 February. This is to inform Mathias and Veronika Nagel near Strasburg, North Dakota. Peace be to his ashes!

In my last report, I made an unfortunate mistake, which I will now correct. Franziska Schreiber, who passed away on the 11 August, is not a nee Stroesse but a nee Schweizer originating from Strassburg.

The health conditions are not satisfactory. There are very many sick people in the village, especially children of which one or two die every day.

With a greeting,
Anton Gedak
