Dear Staats-Anzeiger!
While in Balmas, I met Mr. Romuald Dirk. He looked very frail. Walking is difficult for him. His eyesight is also bad.
Yesterday, our priest and our mayor walked through the village to record how much straw each farmer could donate to fuel the brick works. The bricks are supposed to be manufactured for the construction of our church. One could see that the people are willing to sacrifice for God’s work, because over 40 fathoms of straw were donated.
The people still attend church services diligently. That is a sign that they hold fast to God’s word and the church.
In my last report, I had mentioned that Joseph Reis had died. His funeral was on 9 February. Peace to his ashes and may the perpetual light shine upon him. This should serve to inform his friends in Selz.
Johannes Volk is sick. He suffers from old age. Norbertus Nagel is also sick. His recovery is doubtful.
In closing, I greet all readers and the worthy editorship.
