Dear Editor:
I cannot keep silent forever, so here I am again. It has been some time since I wrote last, but I was busy with harvesting and threshing. (*Editor: Not to mention the sessions with cousin Vincenz and the others.)
Then we had the Fair; some call it the Bazaar, with a lot of work. We managed to raise a tidy sum toward church construction and will start with it next spring. We had quite a few weddings and name day celebrations. Now it is blessedly quiet. It’s the hush before advent.
Yesterday, I received a letter from Peter Volk in Colonsay, Saskatchewan. He would like to order a year’s subscription. Please send him the particulars and a bill. He will pay you as soon as he hears from you.
I am enclosing a year’s subscription fee for Mr. Geesa here in Estevan. He saw a copy of your paper here and liked it enough to order his own paper.
Winter arrived in force and the earth is blanketed in white. The farmers are still going to town by car, but many have already switched to sleds.
Beer consumption is down somewhat due to the cold weather. This will not deter Mr. Kriwel here from opening his brewery though. He has hired a famous brew master from America who supposedly produces an excellent beer. (*Editor: Perhaps we will get a sample bottle?)
All is well, no changes. Greetings to all friends wherever they are, whether in the old homeland or in North America as well as to the readers, editor and staff.
