Dear Staats-Anzeiger!

The way I heard it, my old neighbor Rochus Ternes near Raleigh, North Dakota as well as Peter Loeb near Raleigh, North Dakota are planning to visit us later in the year. Unfortunately, none of the aforementioned has arrived here yet. Mr. Ternes’s visit is hardly expected this winter. Perhaps he will come in the New Year?

This is to inform Simon Riehl in Portland, Oregon, his sister Thekla and the rest of the friends in North Dakota and Canada that their mother Johanna died on 20 October at the age of 76 years. She left her deeply saddened husband Christian Riehl. Peace be to her ashes!

Your father, brother-in-law Joseph and your sister Nathalie are still healthy. They are waiting for a sign of life from you. They have not received a letter from you in more than a year.

I am asking all my friends and old acquaintances to order the Staats-Anzeiger since you will often find news in it from your old homeland. If anyone from over there wants to be informed about anything, they should write me a letter. I will then give him the information in the Staats-Anzeiger. (*Editor: We sent you the calendar for 1928 and you have probably received it by now. We send you a greeting.)

In closing, I greet all readers and also the worthy editorship.

Anton Gedak
