Dear Editor Wanner:

Greetings to you and your staff and all the readers of your paper. I want to tell you that all is well here and we anticipate the next edition. Mr. Ternes graciously lets me read his paper. Naturally, one does not always have the time.

We had a nice rainfall yesterday and all is splendid. The winter wheat is all used up. Much of the fields are plowed under. The farmers cannot sell the wheat in advance.

My house is almost finished, the exterior anyway. I hope to be able to move in by August. Good riddance to the leasing then.

Money is scarce, but I am indebted to my stepfather, Adam Erker and brother-in-law, Melchior Erker, father-in-law, Josef Wagner, brother-in-law, Dionisius Herman and other friends. A special thanks to all who helped.

Now I am asking you, dear editor, to publish the message following below from the widow Rosa Söhn.

Let me tell you what else happened in Bessarabia and North Bukovina. I read the Catholic German newspaper, Heimat. It had an article about the mud rain in it. It was the talk of the region for several days. It was published on May 13, 1928. I copied the article for you.

THE MUD RAIN

“The mud rain reported from North Bukovina and Bessarabia was explained by
Meteorologists in Bukarest saying it stemmed from dust of the Russian steppe
lands. The dust was whirled into the region by violent storms. Rumors that a
volcanic outburst caused the phenomenon are incorrect.”

Greetings to all readers, editor and all friends and correspondents. I remain with German greetings,

Joseph Braun

Dear Editor Wanner:

Greetings to you and all readers. A special thanks to you for using my lines. I like to use these means to find out whether my sons, Eugenius and Magnus Müller, my son-in-law, Romegius Paul and my stepson, Edmund Söhn are still among the living. They were in Fox Valley, Sask., Canada.

I want to ask my children to write, and if possible, to send some money since I am old. I am already 72.

Also, would like my son, Magnus to have his picture taken and send me one. I have photos of the others, but not of him.

Eugenius writes that he sent money previously. I only received $5.00 from Josef Fentrich [Fändrich] and from no one else. That was when Mr. Fentrich [Fändrich] came to visit in Krasna. I know that I can count on my children.

My son, Peter Müller and my stepson, Markus Söhn would also like to read this paper. If one of the brothers would kindly send it.

Greetings to all readers.

Rosa Söhn
