Dear Editor:

We had rainfall on November 10 and 11. It was a nice and soaking rain. Just right!

Our grocery situation has improved and the German farmer’s cooperative in Tarutino has sent 300 Pud of potatoes, which will be sold at the local cooperative. There are two kinds of potatoes, white at 61 Lei/Pud and red American at 65 Lei/Pud. There are plenty of potatoes, but no money to buy them yet.

There was a community meeting however, and as soon as we figure out who is distributing the money and how it is going to work, we should be okay. Funds came from Germany if the grapevine is correct. We cannot go into more detail, as you can understand. More about it later.

Our Royal family has donated 500,000 Lei for the suffering people of Bessarabia. This is a wonderful gesture from the Royal House.

We had a hellacious storm last November 27 at 1:00PM, which did much damage, uprooting trees and tearing the roofs off homes. It lasted until 9:00PM, but brought also much needed rain. The roof of the church was damaged in two places and the entire roof blew off the schoolhouse into a neighbor’s yard. Three people were injured - nothing major.

Death list: Hieronimus Söhn died November 6. He leaves behind a wife and seven children, 3 married and 4 unwed. Also, the wife of Johann Eckert, Juliana nee Hinz, died on November 23.

Weddings: November 6, Johannes, son of the late Lukas Paul and Rufina, daughter of Jochim Kuss. November 27, Manswetus [Mansuetus], son of Peter Volk and Anisia, daughter of Maximillian Ternes. Please inform their American relations, dear readers.

During the night of 25/26 November, meat was stolen from the home of Mathias Volk. No trace of the culprits.

Georg Wuitschik caught his ring finger in his sausage grinder and lost part of his finger. Please be careful and watch what you are doing.

If the editor is willing to print it, I shall continue with my report. (*Editor - Please do! We always need news and you are getting your Rundschau regularly, aren’t you?)

News is sought about the following persons: Johannes Christian Löb is looking for his uncles Peter Löb and Johannes Haag. Wendelin Johannes Kunz is looking for his uncle Georg Kunz. There are no addresses for these missing people, but perhaps this way they will be found. Thanks to the editor and the readers for their help in advance.

It just started raining! Greetings to all readers here and there, the editor and staff.
