Dear Editor Brendel:

I am happy to report that on March 28, we finally had some nice rain to get rid of the dust. All the fields are sown and this task was done more efficiently this year since the horses were in better shape. Bobschoi (Welschkorn) corn is next. Since much of the fields were already plowed in the fall, the work is going to be done quickly.

Peter Kahl died on March 28 (Sr.), age 88 or 89. Adolf Furch of Krasna is looking for news about Pastor Furch from Selz. Pastor Furch had been imprisoned at Odessa earlier and no one here knows his whereabouts. Adolf Furch and Pastor Johann Furch are brothers.

The following left for Brazil on March 28:

Kasper Weber and wife Amalia nee Paul and six unmarried children. – Johanna, the married daughter nee Weber and wife of Lukas Paul Jr. son of the late Lukas Paul. – Anton J. Wingenbach and wife Amalia, daughter of Valentin Ternes and two children. Several families are slated to go, but as yet are not ready to do so.

There was a general meeting on March 28 of the members of the bank and the cooperative. Nikolaus Kelsch was re-elected. He receives a commission of 2.5% from the store. There was an error of 87,021 Lei on his inventory of wares, which he has to pay back from his income.

During the night of March 28/29, a hoodlum broke into the cooperative store and caused a terrible mess. A special investigator will ascertain what all is missing.

Greetings,
Joseph Braun

The other teachers are Eduard Ruscheinski, married and the two bachelors Anselmus, son of Bernhard Leins, and Aloisius, son of Simon Folk. Teacher Michael Ziebart is married.

This brings us to the Kirchhof (churchyard). On the other side are:
