Dear Editor:
We had a community meeting yesterday. The following men were elected as community council members: Eduard Ruscheinsky, Isidor Leinz, Lazarus Volk, Joseph Neumann, Viktor Nagel and Maximilian Martha. These five elected their speaker, Max Martha, who will be a board member in the People’s Council.
Widower Anton Haag died on January 17, age 65. He had been ailing for a brief time. May the Lord grant him eternal peace.
Our health here is nothing to brag about. Many people are sick. Among them the refugee Eugenius Bertsch, my wife and others who were seen by the popular Dr. Bäckmann.
Thomas Folk sends greetings to his brother Anselmus Folk in Strasburg, North Dakota. He would also like to inform him that there is a little money left from their mother’s estate, and wants to know what to do with it. He has written several letters, but has not received any answers. If Folk is not a Rundschau reader, would someone who is please tell him? A letter in this regard is being dispatched to Mr. Brendel.
Grain prices are at a standstill. There has never been such an acute shortage of money. Nothing moves, no hustle or bustle.
Our pastor received a letter from Bendery today that another refugee and his family have arrived there. The name is Bartle. A delegation to Bendery is leaving today to see what can be done to help.
Pastor Deobald Kopp from Strassburg in South Russia wrote recently that Pastor Joseph Hein died in Jeremejewka. He was 66 years old. May the Lord grant him peace!
Thimoteus Fenrich and family are well and send greetings to his brothers Lorenz, Joseph, Markus and Johannes near Prelate, Saskatchewan. He asks they please send some news to the Rundschau. People are interested in such reports.
Simon Engel sends greetings to his brother Michael near Prelate and would like to hear from him.
With fluctuating weather, we finally have had some melting, and then frost again. We had some snow on January 19 and already ¼ Arschin snow on the ground. Yesterday, it rained and we hope that all the snowy water will saturate the soil.
Greetings to the editor and the readers here and there.
Joseph Braun
