Dear Staats-Anzeiger!

Today I would like to try my first report to the worthy paper and want to inform you that we can’t complain about the weather. We have about 5 inches of snow and moderate temperatures, which is very good during these bad times.

I have no idea what is going on with my comrades living near Linton, North Dakota. We have not heard from them at all. It looks like they all have become extinct, which we really don’t want to believe. An example, where is Uncle Wilhelm Gross who can write well? Mostly we are asking him for a report. (*Editor: We will send you the 1932 calendar.)

We wish the editor Mr. Brandt and all readers much luck in the New Year.

I remain,
Zachaeus Braun
