Dear Staats-Anzeiger!
Last night I went to see my neighbor Eligor Soehn, after I had received Editions #54 and #55 of the Staats-Anzeiger during the day. There were reports from Krasna and Emmental, Bessarabia in those editions. Mrs. Soehn is from Emmental and is naturally curious to hear from her place of birth.
I had barely arrived when Raymond Koch also came driving over. He had come to see me but I wasn’t home. He had also brought his wife along. We had a nice conversation and Mr. and Mrs. Koch are saying hello to his brother Michael and Mrs. Veronika Koch and their children, and also to all his siblings. He had received his brother Michael’s letter and will give him a reply soon. The undersigned and Eligor return the greeting, which Michael Koch had conveyed to us. Mr. Koch better believe that we are still just like we used to be over there, since we really like this continent and it makes me want to live to be 1,000 years old, even though we do have a tough time now.
We would like to tell Mr. Aloisius Herrschaft and family in Brazil, that we received his letter, which we will reply to soon.
We also received a letter from Anton Soehn from Karamurat, who now resides in Italy. He was ordained to the priesthood there on 19 December. This is to inform his parents and siblings, as well as Kaspar and Monika Soehn and his mother Margaretha Soehn. Karl had planned the same thing and I hope that I will soon hear from him about it. The letter had arrived from France, but where he is staying right now we don’t know.
Now we want to send friendly greetings to our friend the assistant editor C. J. Haag and his family. We want to wish them much luck in the New Year. I will write him a personal letter.
I send the very best greetings to the editor Mr. Brandt and to all friends here and there.
Anton A. Soehn
