Worthy Staats-Anzeiger!

The farmers in the area around Solen don’t think much of the Farmer’s Union and that is easily explained. They just don’t read newspapers like the Staats-Anzeiger, from which they could get the truth and the real circumstances of a certain concern.

Last week I was visiting in Solen and I found the Staats-Anzeiger only with one person and I was told that he needed to cancel the newspaper because $3 was too expensive. I explained to him that the Staats-Anzeiger is still the cheapest newspaper, because other newspapers, which are published only once per week, cost at least $2 and they don’t bring as much news as the Staats-Anzeiger. On top of that you can find out the exact truth. He couldn’t reply anything. But I think that the people there don’t want to have anything to do with the nonpartisan league and that the Staats-Anzeiger is giving them the truth too clearly.

Just wait you rich people, the time will come when you have to admit how foolish you acted. But when a banker tells these people something, they think it is the gospel.

The weather is so nice right now that we will soon be able to get the plows ready, if the weather remains this way for a while longer.

The health conditions are satisfactory. The flu wasn’t as noticeable here as it was last year.

I would like to know if Philipp Schwarz in Selz, North Dakota is also a reader of the paper. (*Editor: Philipp Schwarz is not a reader. At least his name is not on the list in Selz.)

Worthy Staats-Anzeiger!

The health condition in our area could be better. Many people complain about headaches and sore throats. It all seemed to have been mostly light sicknesses because there have not been any deaths due to these illnesses. My wife has been ailing all winter long.

This should serve as a message to our relatives and friends.

Stefanus Fenrich from Bergfield, Canada and Elisabetha Winter, daughter of Joseph Winter, were married here. The groom also paid a friendly visit to me, which made me very happy.

I now greet all my relatives and friends in Canada and Rumania. I would be very pleased if they would let themselves be heard from in the Staats-Anzeiger.
