Worthy Staats-Anzeiger!

I am taking this opportunity to write a few lines to the esteemed paper. My dear brother-in-law Johannes Schuck wants to know how it is with the money he sent. We received it on 22 June. When I received the draft I went to the bank in Konstanza, but they could not give me the money. Then the draft went to Bukarest. There it took until 14 August to receive the money, namely 735 lei. Dear brother-in-law and sister-in-law I thank you with all my heart for the great kindness.

You want to know where the two brothers-in-law are living and how they are doing. Brother-in-law Mathias is still healthy and doing well. He lives with his son Joseph Tuchscherer here in our village Karamurat. Brother-in-law Friedrich and your sister Theresia with 4 children are also healthy and visit us daily. Recently we had a big surprise as our oldest son came home happy from Bulgaria on 25 August. He is allowed to stay with us again.

Dear brother-in-law, thank you for the Staats-Anzeiger, which you are having sent to us. It is a very welcome guest in our house.

The weather here is sorrowful, since it hasn’t rained in the last 3 months. The winter wheat cannot be seeded because it is too dry.

I also would like to know where our godfather and old neighbor Jakob Marklinger lives and if he is a reader of the Staats-Anzeiger. If he reads this he should write to me.

With a heartfelt greeting to you and the Staats-Anzeiger and all readers of the dear paper.

Respectfully, Widow Margareta Bartsch
