Recently, here in Cogealia, two nice horses were stolen. A magnificent mare worth 20,000 lei was stolen from August Ebel and a black stallion worth 15,000 lei was stolen from his son Wilhelm. There has not yet been a trace of the thieves. The same thing was attempted in a courtyard in the neighborhood a few days later, but the thieves were chased off.

Heinrich Toepfer who lives here is thanking Mr. Roedel for the information about his brother. He is asking for more information about his brother’s children. He is also asking if you are the Mr. Roedel who used to be a teacher in Neu-Kassel.

My best greetings go to Mr. Jakob Merklinger. Since you know me you must have lived in Karamurat formerly. I will gladly fulfill your wish to write something about Karamurat.

Recently in Karamurat, Joseph Ternes, one of the youngest sons of the old Michael Ternes died suddenly. He was the owner of a mill and was quite wealthy. His downfall was the disagreeable alcohol, which he really loved just like so many of our men of the younger generation. They do not believe that alcohol will ruin the human being. He became ill from an inflammation of the brain. He was transferred to the hospital in Konstanza where he died soon after. He was only 41 years old.

As already reported, the harvest in Karamurat was very weak. The bugs ate the biggest portion of the grain.

Louise Ziehmann, nee Wirt died in Sarighiol after a long suffering from a lung disease. She was 54 years old. Besides her husband Johannes Ziehmann several children also mourn the loss of their mother.

The wife of the teacher Heinrich Schulz died at the age of 60 years in Alakap. Mr. Schulz had formerly been a teacher in Cogealia, Sarighiol, Mamuslia and Cincurowa.

Here as well as in the neighboring village Karataf, the harvest was weak.

The other day, two Spanish warships arrived in the Konstanza harbor. The commander of the Rumanian fleet from Konstanza who greeted them was named Buchholzer. He is a Saxon from “Siebenbuergen”. The conductor of the orchestra, who greeted the guests from Spain, is also a German. On the whole, you hear many more German words than formerly, since many spa visitors from “Siebenbuergen” and other areas stay in Konstanza.
