Dear Staats-Anzeiger!

Since I have not reported to the paper for a long time, I will do so today with a short report.

First, I have to mention that we are having a very cold winter this year. We haven’t had one like this for many years.

Further, I want to tell my brother-in-law Michael Mueller, that I have received the $5 for my father, which was sent to me via the Staats-Anzeiger. I gave the money to my father right away. For that he is very grateful and says may God bless you! The parents are still healthy and they send their friendly greetings.

Further, I have some sad news. The Lord over life and death called my father-in-law Joseph Wolf into eternity. He closed his eyes forever on his 80th birthday. Peace be to his ashes!

Regina Goetz, daughter of Anton Ternes died here on 29 January. May she also rest in peace!

On the first day of the New Year, we had the election for village mayor. Joseph A. Ternes was elected as mayor and Alois D. Mueller and Joseph Soehn as his assistants. The following people were elected as church elders: Zachaeus K. Mueller, Heinrich M. Fandrich and Joseph M. Ruscheinsky.

In closing, I greet all readers and also the editor Mr. Brandt.
