Dear Staats-Anzeiger!

Today on 15 February, Peter Ruscheinsky, the son of Melchior Ruscheinsky was married to Margaretha Dirk, the daughter of Simpherianus. My wife and I had also been invited to attend the wedding celebration. Unfortunately, I could not participate because of certain reasons. However, my wife together with Mrs. Barbara Ternes did go. Another attempt was made to get me to the wedding celebration. The two fathers of honor, Jakob Ihli and the teacher Eduard Ruscheinsky did send two of the groomsmen to my place to escort me to the celebration. I begged their pardon and told them that I just could not comply with the high honor bestowed on me.

I thank Mr. Markus Weber in Slatorum, Siberia very much for his information. I was also happy to hear that you are healthy. I have read your report dated 15 December on 20 February the following year in the Staats-Anzeiger. Your old mother and the remaining siblings are still in good health, but your mother is very poor.

I also send greetings to Zachaeus and Klothilda Kahl near Shields, North Dakota. Why have all of you become so lazy in writing? Please let yourselves be heard from more often.

Michael Maass and his wife Theresia in Slatorum, Siberia should be informed that his brother Gregor Maass and family in Krasna are still healthy. His brother Jakob died in 1928 and his brother Lukas in 1924. Their widows and children are still in good health. Your father-in-law Peter Volk and his children are in good health. Your mother-in-law Marianna died in 1926. The wife of your brother-in-law Gabriel Volk, Klara, died on 31 January 1928.

Today, the widower Michael Hintz, who is one of my old comrades from the war and also the son of Johannes Hintz, came to visit me. He complained to me that his friends in America no longer write to him. His wife had died three years ago. He has often written letters to his friends but unfortunately has never received an answer. Most of all he sends his greetings to his brother Joseph along with his wife and children. He also says hello to his brother-in-law Georg and his sister Marianna Wingenbach and their children near Raleigh, North Dakota. Further, a hello to the widow Leokatha Engel and children near Elardee, Saskatchewan, Canada. He is begging those named above to please write and give their correct addresses. He would also be very happy if one of them would subscribe to the Staats-Anzeiger for him as a present. He expresses his sincere thanks to them in advance. With the exception of his youngest daughter Ida, all other children are married. Ida is taking care of him.

I am informing my honored friend C. J. Haag, the assistant to the editor of the Staats-Anzeiger, that his old mother, as well as the rest of his siblings are still in good health and that they send their greetings to him.
