Dear Editor:

We were very happy about the rain last night, but it has not totally soaked the ground. God will be on our side so we can sow.

Gottlieb Haag had an accident on September 14, when he was tearing down his old barn. After the walls were down, he tried to knock off part of the still standing roof with an axe. The roof came down falling on his legs. He lost his left foot at the ankle, and it is possible that he will loose the entire leg. He has plenty of expenses with it. Please pass this message on to his brother Cirilius Haag in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Death List:
10 September: Albertus Marthe leaves behind his wife and three children.
12 September: Sophia Wagner, wife of Magnus Simon Wagner, daughter of Adolf Furch. She left behind her husband and four children.
16 September: Sunna, wife of Balthasar Wagner and daughter of the late Klemens Bunikowski [Boniakowski]. She left behind her husband and one child.
May they rest in peace.

We had a community meeting this week about restructuring the Wolost (Commune), as no less than 10,000 souls are required to make up a Communa. As the official (pretor) from Tarutino explained, Krasna, Paris and Katzbach were supposed to be annexed according to a decree issued by the district commissariat. The law has the advantage to be effective throughout the nations, which means cutting costs and, therefore should be beneficial.
