Dear Editor Brendel:
The soil has had enough moisture and the winter crop looks wonderful. Let us hope that the weather remains nice.
An accident happened recently when Erasmus Mathias Ruscheinsky wanted to deliver a load of barley to Beresina. As he came to the ditch, his horses began to run throwing him off the wagon. The rear wheel went over his chest. Thank God the ditch was filled with mud; otherwise he would have been dead on the spot. The following driver picked him up and brought him home, then the doctor was called. Unfortunately, the poor man passed away on October 6 leaving his wife and a little child, brothers and sisters. His wife is the daughter of Narzisius Kuss. This message is to their friends in America.
Yesterday, Martin Weber, age 70, died leaving his wife, children and grandchildren. May he rest in peace!
Weddings last week: Peter, son of Joseph Wagner and Ermelina, daughter of Johannes Heinz. – Johannes, son of Joseph Gedak and Ida, daughter of Isidor Leinz. – Bernhard N. Leinz and Emerentiana, daughter of Rudolf Nagel. – Bernhard, son of Anton Bunikowsky and Agata, daughter of Philipp Materi. – Wendelin Mass from Emmental and Agnesia, daughter of Wendelin Ternes. These marriages took place on November 5. The following were married November 12: Reinhold, son of Jakob Koch and Bertha, daughter of Josef Dressler. – Johannes, son of the late Blasius Kopp and Erena, daughter of Korbinian Leinz. Much luck to all these young people.
We stopped at the lower end, so now we continue with the back of the village on the creek side. The back village is still called by former native names of Sampasui or City Moscow.
The first five houses have been here since before the war. The lots were given to the landless in 1924 and the people built sod houses encased in clay (Semljanka). Now we continue to the lower end in the direction of the forest.
Now we reached the alley. The large cross is still in place.
