Dear Rundschau:

It is still very dry here, and we still have horribly cold weather. On May 19, we had 28 degrees and one was worried about leaving the house.

On that inclement day, we attended a friendly and solemn wonderful wedding at our neighbor’s house, Franz Fergel. His daughter Katharina was married to Peter Keller from Aberdeen, South Dakota by the pastor. Witnesses were Bernhard Keller from Winona, North Dakota and Markus Hopfinger from Bixby, South Dakota.

Mr. & Mrs. Fergel took very good care of their guests, and offered what cellar and kitchen could produce. There was nothing lacking and the wedding lasted two days. The guests disregarded the inclement weather and the poor grain prices and had fun. A wedding celebration is enough cause to forget the drudgery of every day living. One has to be happy and carefree. Again, many thanks to the hosts.

A note to Krasna correspondent Joseph Braun. I promise to write more frequent reports. At this point, I would also like to remind Mr. Hopfinger, who is also a Rundschau reader, to send more reports as well.

Enclosed please find the subscription fee for one year for a new reader, Mrs. Wendel Kopp.

Greetings to all the readers here and there.

Philipp Kahl
