Dear Editor Brendel:

The weather is great! The sowing went well; the soil has a hard crust from the last rain though. We need more rain to loosen the soil. The early winter wheat was bad, but the second batch was good. Beetles ate the rapeseed. They are too numerous to control and do damage to grapevines and flax as well.

Death List: Peter Alwinger of a heart attack. He leaves behind a wife, two married sons here and one in America, an unwed daughter here. This message to the son in America, Bonkratius Alwinger in Portland, Oregon. The mother is in bad straits now, she is 68. Peter Alwinger was one of my neighbors. On May 15, I saw him working on his anvil in the morning, and 2-3 hours later he was dead. It is hard to believe. My condolences to the bereaved!

Thomas Deichert would like to hear from his brother. He has not heard from him in four years. His name is Fidelis Deichert. He is supposed to be in Mendham, Sask., Lumsford, Sask., or in Krupp, Sask. If he does not read this paper, perhaps someone who does could pass on the message. Thomas would like his brother to send him a Rundschau subscription and thanks him for it in advance.

Alexander Paul is looking for his sister who was married to Anton Hilsendeger, and is supposed to be in Regina, Sask. She is in America for over 28 years and has not sent word. Perhaps someone out there could show her these lines and pass on the message. Alex Paul also would ask that one of his friends send him a subscription to the Rundschau. He would be grateful!

Thomasius Wagner would like to tell his family that he is not getting any mail. All his letters go unanswered. His sons are Gordian Wagner, Shields, ND; Jacob Wagner, Strasburg, ND; Raymund Wagner and Vincenz Ercker in Elardee, Sask., Canada. He is 87 and of ill health and suffering.

Message to Ferdinand Kram in Rosefield, Sask., his brother is not in Krasna as a refugee. If he needs to find other friends, let me know as I will be glad to be of help. The best and surest way to get results is through the Dakota Rundschau.

There are publications out in America, which try to undermine the people in Russia. We know these publications well, but will not name them here. Much is talked about this. We even get mail from America about this. Don’t believe this drivel and don’t read those papers, get the Rundschau instead.

In closing, I would like to send greetings to the editor, and all readers here and there.

Joseph Braun
