Dear Staats-Anzeiger!

The health conditions in the village leave much to be desired. There is scarlet fever among the children. This illness causes a lot of inconvenience for the people, because the sick children have to be taken to the hospital in Tarutino immediately.

Several old people have also died in the village, namely Heinrich Schulkowsky died on 5 October at the age of 75 years, and on 29 October, Gertruda Ternes, nee Riehl died at the age of 80 years. This is to inform Joseph Mueller in Canada.

Mr. Albertus Riehl sends many greetings to C. J. Haag, the assistant editor of the Staats-Anzeiger. Mr. Riehl promised to answer your inquiry, but I am afraid it will remain a promise. As far as farming is concerned Albertus is not doing too badly.

On 25 October, a fire started in my neighbor Katharina Habrich’s straw stack. Luckily there was no wind so the fire was soon under control. The damage was not great since straw is cheap. But since one was afraid for the fire to erupt again, the mayor put 15 men as guards overnight next to the straw stack. I was one of the guards, as well as Albertus Riehl and the rest of the neighbors. We stood with the hose in hand and the necessary water was there just in case. All that was missing was wine, but there was a bucket of wine available and we drank all night. Luckily the mayor did not find out about it.

Dear Staats-Anzeiger!

Luckily, my neighbor loaned me a sleigh and now we can go whenever we want to, but to the wedding at the A. Paul’s we couldn’t go, because it is a little too far away.

We wish the young couple lots of luck and peace in their marriage. Remigius and Mrs. Paul had invited us to the wedding and we would have really liked to have been in their midst.

It seems like lots of things have changed in our old hometown Krasna, Bessarabia. Formerly the books always balanced and only the money was lacking, but now the books no longer balance.

Raimond Koch and his neighbor Johannes Ehresmann drove to visit someone and in the process flipped the car. Nothing happened but they had to call Joseph P. Hintz for help. He lived near where the accident happened.

There was a wedding celebration today at Daniel Hittel’s, whose daughter was married to a son of Raimond Wagner.

Anna Dirk is bedridden due to rheumatism. We hope that she will soon be well again.

Honored Editor Mr. Brandt!

We had the luck to attend a wedding celebration. Adolf Wagner married Annamaria Hittel. The groom is a son of Raimond and Elisabetha Wagner. The bride is a daughter of Daniel and Rosa Hittel. Mr. Adam Seifert is asked to report this to Anna Mueller. Herewith, we express our thanks to the fathers of the couple for the hospitality, since there was the best of everything and nothing was lacking. The celebration took place on 24 November.

Peter Mueller is asking his brother-in-law Markus Weber in Siberia for a letter and the correct address.

We are asking our brothers-in-law Rafael and Celestinus Loeb in Emmental, Bessarabia for news by letter or through the Staats-Anzeiger.

We thank Adam Seifert very much for his reports, and we would really like to hear from him more often.

Today I am at Rochus Paul’s, to whom I also brought the newspaper with the report. They are very happy about it. We are already excited about the picture of the church, which Adam wants to publish in the Staats-Anzeiger. Rochus would also like to know how the mothers are doing.
