Dear Staats-Anzeiger!

During the year 1931, 78 people died in our community. Among those were 35 adults and 43 children. 107 children were born. We had an increase of 29 citizens.

Again I have two deaths to report. Michael Hintz died on 18 February as a result of a bladder problem. He was 70 years old. This is to inform his son Peter Hintz in Canada and also his son-in-law Basilius and daughter Marianna Harsche in Canada. Peter Volk departed this life on 23 February. He was 80 years old. This is to inform his son Wendelin Volk in North Dakota.

If they are not readers of the Staats-Anzeiger, then we urge them to subscribe to this paper in order to receive news from the old homeland more often. Paulinus and Ottilia Fleckenstein, nee Bogolowsky send a friendly hello to Zachaeus and Klothilda Kahl near Shields, North Dakota. They ask that they please write in the Staats-Anzeiger just once. They would like to find out from you if Anton Bogolowsky and his wife are still alive.

A friendly hello to our former neighbors Anton A. Soehn and his wife Eva in Canada. What is the matter old comrade that you have not written for such a long time? I had written a letter to you a long time ago, but have not received an answer yet.

In closing, I greet the editor Mr. Brandt, his co-workers and all readers.

Severin Becker
