Valued Staats-Anzeiger!

Herewith I present the readers with something from sunny Texas. Johannes Gottselig, son of Martin married Dorothea Mock. Likewise, Jakob Mattern, son of Paul married Eugenia Wolf, daughter of Ferdinand. The writer of these lines participated at both weddings, which were joyous occasions. There were more than enough drinks, so that every one could squelch their thirst. The meals too were abundant and delicious.

I am gaining a new neighbor by the name of Wendelin Geist (or Geisi). At my neighbor’s Andreas Erck, a 9-year-old child suddenly became ill to the point where one had given up. But the know-how of Doctor Robinson succeeded in saving the child.

Recently, we were honored with a pleasant visit by Mr. and Mrs.Valentin Doering from Billimun, Sask., Canada. Mr. Valentin is my cousin. But they stayed for only 11 days, which is way too short a time after such a long journey. They also visited some other friends, who are relatives of Mrs. Doering, nee Materi, namely Mrs. Ursula Wagner, nee Selensky.

We thank our friend Valentin once more for his visit, but cannot promise for sure to reciprocate this visit in the near future. However, all we can still do for them is that we will have the Staats-Anzeiger sent to them for 1 year as of now. We hope that they also will stay with the paper after the expired time. (*Editor: We have received the fee. Thank you very much. Calendar as a prize is being sent.)

With a friendly greeting,
Val. A. and Jakob Bachmeyer
