Valued Editorship!

Since the wind is blowing and tumbling the Russian thistles over hills and through valleys, I prefer to comfortably sit in a cozy room and write these lines.

So far we always have had nice weather. If it should last like this until Christmas, then there will be no other choice for Mr. Anton Jochim to kiss the Indian for the prophecy as he had recently written in a report.

The status of health here is good. Of course, you may hear many lamenting. One may have no appetite, another may have an earache, and yet another may have a thirst that he can not squelch with water. But all of that is not too severe.

It seems like the business people want to ruin the farmers. When you take a cowhide to the market, they offer you 40 to 50 cents per pound, but you have to pay $1.90 to $2.00 for a pound of leather.

A heartfelt greeting to my in-laws in Balmas, to the editorship and the reader’s circle.

Ignatz Gross
