Dear Staats-Anzeiger!
Here are the election results. Alexius Riehl is mayor and his assistant is Thimoteus P. Fenrich. The following individuals were elected to the village council: Johannes B. Herrschaft and Maximilian J. Haag, brother of the assistant editor C. J. Haag, Joachim K. Both, Eduard M. Ruscheinsky, Albert Gulewitsch (both are teachers), Valerian J. Furch, Thomas E. Volk, Peter Ch. Mueller, Thomas P. Schaefer, Joseph M. Soehn, Joseph J. Wingenbach and Simforian J. Dirk.
Rumor has it that the brothers Lorenz and Johannes Fenrich from Prelate, Saskatchewan, Canada intend to visit us. Lorenz, is that so?
Now my dear friend Thomas Ihli, I was very happy to read in your report in the Staats-Anzeiger that the old Uncle Peter is still alive and that he is still healthy at the age of 85 years.
My wife is very sorry about her godmother's suffering from diabetes. May God grant that she soon will be well again!
We too had to cope with difficult days this winter. One daughter had typhoid shortly after giving birth. Another daughter, also married, had pneumonia. Both are healthy again.
The son-in-law is also sick and bedridden for two months already. The doctor thinks that he is suffering from an attack of consumption. He was given bed rest and after one month he had already gained 10 pounds. The doctor believes that the sickness has been overcome.
We sincerely greet all of you and ask you to write more often in the Staats-Anzeiger.

Dear Staats-Anzeiger!
On 14 February, Gabriel Soehn came by car to visit me since he needed some woodwork done. In the evening, my friend Gabriel said that he was driving to a saint’s day celebration and wanted me to go along. I agreed immediately, and shortly thereafter we were on our way. I asked Gabriel if Valentin Deis would chase us off since I was a total stranger, but he said that that wouldn’t happen.
On 16 February, we had the honor of getting invited to a wedding. Thomas and his wife Benigna Haag’s daughter is getting married to Leon Haab, who was from Vienna, Austria.
We are greeting Mr. Anton Gedak the correspondent from Krasna, Bessarabia. We are asking him to please let us know in the Staats-Anzeiger, who from our home village has immigrated and where to.
Now we want to address our dear friends in Brazil, South America, namely Markus K. Soehn, with whom we had left Krasna. I read that Theresia, the wife of Alexander Becker is sick. We hope that she will be better soon. Then there are also Aloisius Herrschaft and Philipp Soehn and their families. We would like for them to write.
We are greeting our friends in the United States, Adam Paul, Faustina Bachmeier, Jakob Wagner, Melchior and Forina Wagner, and also Rochus Ternes and ask them to write. We want to tell all these friends that we are slowly getting settled and are full of hope to make good progress in our new homeland.
I am greeting the editor Mr. Brandt and all readers.
Anton A. Soehn
