Dear Staats-Anzeiger!

During the time of harvesting, the belts from the threshing machine and 150 pounds of baling string were stolen from Rochus Brickner. So far there is no trace of the thieves.

A mill has been built in our neighborhood. This is fortunate for many because now one can transport one’s own wheat to the mill and have it ground into flour. Rumor has it that they make good flour.

The schools have been shut down in our region. They cannot be sustained because of the lack of resources. This is also a sign of the times.

A baby boy was born into Johannes Seifert’s family. This serves to inform Johannes’ mother in Emmental, Bessarabia.

Since I have mentioned Emmental already, I want to send a friendly greeting to Adam and Pelagia Seifert. We thank them very much for the long and interesting report. We ask them to subject us to such joy more often. His comrade Zachaeus Moldenhauer also reads the Staats-Anzeiger and so does Zachaeus’ mother. His friends should already know that Zachaeus is a widower. His wife was a nee Mueller, the daughter of Franz and Ottilie Mueller.

It is requested that Mr. Seifert in his next report let us know how long, how wide and how high the new church is. We thank him in advance.

We echo the greeting from Klara Mueller with our best along with the announcement that we will visit her also once we get started. We just have postponed it until the very last moment.

We have seen the pictures at Johannes Plotzki’s showing the enormous damage that the storm had caused, including the destroyed stable and other objects.

Our women’s club is making good progress despite the bad times. We have events of card games and dances, in which young people love to participate. Peter Volk provides the music with his accordion, and he is good at it.

This is to inform Xaverius Baumann in Emmental, Bessarabia that we have received his letter, but that it is not true that we still owe money. We shall settle this matter by letter. We are sending you best wishes. Please write and let us know if your son Theobald has gotten married yet.
